In Shoujo Kakumei Utena, Juri is depicted as being tormented by her unreciprocated love for her childhood friend, Shiori and the naive obliviousness she deems to be “cruel innocence“. However in this expository reversal of roles, Juri now becomes the torturer as she expresses her desire for Shiori quite carnally as she mutilates the moth wings that Shiori dons surreally in the movie.

(Because it's a beautiful night...)
I've never really felt bad for Shiori before, but something about the loss of her wings is just too sad...

The miracle of Catholic Communion is really silent cannabalism. Seriously, where else can you get blood shots and body biscuits without being arrested?

An audacious and beautiful image, skillfully and spontaneously rendered...

If it's not here, then it's over there!
But if it's not over there, then where is it?

I can'T find words for it... the surrealistic expression. The symbolism. The Passion... the sadness. It brings tears into my eyes while looking at this masterpiece. I love the idea of Juri finally being the sadistic part after the painful way of shiori's behaviour.

They are such a wonderful couple - so destructive. But so passionate and sensual, filled with metaphors that even words couldn't describe it...

Oh, Schadenfreude, huh? What's that, some kinda nazi word?

Yup, it's german for "happiness at the misfortune of others!".

Happiness at the misfortune of others. That IS German!
